What’s involved in LOLER?
The aim of our LOLER inspections for arboricultural equipment is to ensure the climbing and rigging equipment that you use is safe.
As part of our LOLER inspection, all equipment will go through a thorough visual and tactile inspection.
Following the inspection, our assessor will determine…
Whether the equipment is safe to use
The assessor will investigate equipment thoroughly to ensure it is; working as required, the condition of the items is good and if it is safe to use.
Whether it needs remedial attention
If the assessor locates a fault with any equipment, they will inform you of their findings and make recommendations on how to repair these faults if possible or if the items need to be removed from service.
If it needs to be removed from service
In the event that a piece of equipment is irreparably damaged or not fit for purpose, your assessor will recommend that you dispose of it appropriately.
Under the LOLER regulations a thorough inspections should be carried out every 6 months for climbing kit and every 12 months rigging equipment.
Documents and reports
Following a thorough LOLER inspection, your assessor will provide you with a written report which will detail all findings and recommendations. It’s a good idea to keep this report somewhere safe, should you need to prove that you’ve had a formal inspection.
